Since launching, we have been inundated with customers requesting a strong espresso blend, but were initially hesitant due to the associated bitterness. All too often, cheap Italian style espressos have been over roasted to disguise poor quality robusta beans, resulting in a bitter aftertaste.
We set ourselves the task of sourcing the finest speciality arabicas, from India and DR Congo to provide the individual standout flavours. We then needed a robusta that would give body but not overpower the delicate flavours of the arabicas.
We found a high quality robusta from Tanzania that fitted the bill perfectly, its smoothness gave us the desired body and Crema, which is so important in an espresso blend.
By not over roasting our beans we have a blend that is a smooth, rich bodied espresso enjoyed with or without milk. The notes that really stand out are dark chocolate, nuts, fruit and citrusy marmalade.
We have had fantastic feedback and are proud to be able to offer this superior espresso blend to our customers.
