We are so pleased to be able to offer a Sumatra Mandheling grade 1 this adventurous coffee is full of spirit and has a reputation of being very consistent in flavour, which is rich in body garnished with herbal nuances and a spicy finish. This is perfect for a stronger Cafetiere or filter brew. Ideal for Cafetière, Aeropress, Stovetops and a full bodied Espresso and all milk based drinks.

Sumatra is Indonesia’s second largest island which is filled with mineral-rich soil and diverse plant life. Grown in the shady slopes of Mount Leuser near Padang in the Batak area of Aceh. The Leuser Range is said to be home to one of the most ancient bio-rich ecosystems on the planet.

Mandheling coffees are named after Mandaling people, an ethnic group in the Batak area, who go by the second spelling.

Giling Basah is a unique traditional Sumatran process which involves hulling the parchment off the bean at about 50% moisture content, whereas most other processes hull coffee at around 10-12% moisture content. This process also gives the green beans a signature dark colour.
